My Story

I had my first drink when I was 13 years old. It was like medicine. All my inner anxiety and turmoil melted away. It felt like I could do anything. Be anybody! It was a magnificent moment.

This set-in motion a cycle of stopping and starting drinking that lasted almost twenty years.

You could say I had a love affair with alcohol -- everything revolved around drinking. I drank to have fun. I drank to relax. I drank to fit it. I drank to cope and deal with stress. I drank because it gave me the counterfeit feeling that everything was alright in my world.

If someone questioned or commented on my drinking, I wouldn't have anything to do with them.

Inside was this tug-of-war. Drink. Don’t drink. Drink. Don’t Drink.

I hated myself and knew I could be doing so much better as a mother.

Eventually, everything came crashing down.

Today, I have been alcohol-free for over thirty years. Reaching out for help is the best decision I have ever made.

I became a Certified Addiction Recovery Coach to help other women struggling with alcohol addiction. Helping other women quit drinking and create lives they love is my passion!

Together, we CAN do this.

The sober you is the real you and the version of yourself you imagine.

Behind the Scenes.

Learn from my time and experience to reach your goals faster.

When I quit drinking, I faced deep shame and isolation, especially as a woman and mother. This inspired me to support other women, sharing my journey and guiding them through similar challenges.

As your recovery coach, I'll be there for you with understanding, empathy, and guidance, ensuring you never face these hurdles alone. Together, we'll transform your story, replacing shame with empowerment and creating a life filled with connection, resilience, and endless possibilities.

I have worked in the field of women’s addiction for the past twenty years. I also developed GendHer®ď¸Ź, a transformative course where I share the rituals, beliefs, and mantras that have propelled my own recovery journey.

Through my advocacy work, I've reached thousands of women. My story has been featured in various publications and documentaries, including the Knowledge Network's "When the Children Grow Up," the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Vancouver Sun, and in books such as "Highs and Lows: Canadian Perspectives on Women and Substance Use" by Nancy Poole and Lorraine Greaves, as well as "Drink" by Ann Dowsett Johnston.

Personal interests include creating, gardening, writing, hiking, and decorating. I can sometimes be a bit of a health nut, though occasionally eat cheezies for breakfast. (Hawkins -- is there any other kind?) I am a romantic and believe in love and miracles.

My greatest accomplishment is my sobriety and breaking the cycle of addiction in my family.
